Creating a fake profile

So after having a taste into the world of fake social networking characters, it was now time to create a fake profile. This person would have more than once social network and we would try and get what they were like across to social network users in a matter of a few days. In a group of four, we controlled what this person would say, do and how they acted. It wasn't set up with a weaver or any account, just us.

We decided to create a person who done, well not very much. Riley Scott was what you would call a 'typical lad' full of himself, lazy, into girls, doesn't work and has many bad habbits. He also has very bad grammer which we worked hard on getting across to show is lack of education.

Profile:
Riley Scott aka Riley da Rapper
Age 21
From Liverpool, Huyton
No job, dole supported
Interests Rapping, girls, smoking, not doing much and himself

One of our group members Tom, played the role of Riley dressing up in pictures to create Rileys look.

We first created a Facebook page for Riley, where he added a few random girls and other people. After a few status' and pictures. random people started to request to be a friend of Rileys, showing people will add anyone on social networks. We accpted them all but no one tried to contact Riley which was disspointing. We decided to create another profile called Missy. Missy played the role of Rileys on and off girlfriend creating banter and jokes across Rileys page showing his personality. One of the other groups profile added Riley and tried to firt with him creating competition between Missy and the other girl.

The next social network we created Riley was a twitter, this was just full of updates of what Riley was doing and some quoted from rappers and stars that he liked. No one contacted Riley yet people did retweet him. He also gained 11 followers that we didnt know of, again mainly girls.

The last social netwrok that we created Riley was a Tumblr account. This was slightly more complicated as it's not very easy at all to gain links with people on Tumblr and we didnt make any at all. Although the Tumblr did put Riley personality acorss very well and shown what he was into I felta s though no one seen this or learnt anything about Riley. We did want Riley to create some raps and perform them on a youtube account but we didn't have time to do this.

I throughly enjoyed creating a fake profile which quite shocked me as I didn't like the sound of it at frst. I enjoyed developing a character into somethign which was quite comical to read about. I didn't expect random people to add the profile, especialy girls. This opened my eyes to the young and niave social networkers out there. Riley could have been anyone.

Fake profile

We ad to create a fake person using a Weaver. This included filling out a form asking you to list a seires of words which you would like your charcater to relate to. All the words that you list are what created the persons personality and character. I called my character Dosey Nosey, with the idea being she would be exctly like what her name was. Dosey and Nosey, quite a comical character. I then created a twitter for her, she started tweeting straight away, some of the tweets had a fun personality behind such as 'Marry the Night'. Dosey Nosey started tweeting everyt few minutes and then suddenly stopped, she had been disconected and cut off from the waever meaning it wouldn't acess Twitter anymore.

Reandom peopl started following this profile, I got up to 6 followers, they seemed like genuine profiles and were all girls. However when she got cut, they unfollowed leaving her with one follower, which was myself! This made me realise how many animated and computerised characters there might be out there, I never knew this was possible to do.

Filming and editing our last film

So after going ahead and filming the idea of MMA fighting and following a fighter at the club who has won numerous titles and also has a different side to him, tattooing. This was an interesting story and we captured it well. I personally think that it is the best footage we have captured and probably the best idea we have came up with as a group. I quite enjoyed filming this as I felt positive about the film throughout the whole process which made everything a lot more enjoyable and interesting. Although camera work still isnt my favourite, I enjoy editing a lot more.

The editing process was just like the other films, hard work but a joy to see at the end. Seeing your work put together in a creative way makes you look back and enjoy the process that you have been through. This wa my last film that I will ever create on the course, it taught me a lot and I  enjoyed doing it.

Feedback
We went to our feedback session and received positive feedback which I am very pleased about. We weretold that we worked well throughout the year as a group and we produced good work all round. We were marked with a 2:1 which I am more than happy with!

Our next production film

So our next production film was here and it was a personal profile. We had to create a short film focussing on someone who had something interesting about them whether it was a talent, hobbie or job. They couldn't talk to the camerait could only be a voice over which will be played over footage we capture of the person doing what they do.

Who could we do?
Originally we had a photgrapher as the person behind our personal profile. We thought that the job was intersting and had a good story behind. The shots would of also been interesting as we could get some artistic shots in there. However we were let down by the photograoher as he had work to do in another city which was too far for us to travel too so we had to think of someone else. We know of a local actress and singer who became our final idea for our personal profile. She had an interesting story and many talents to her. She was within travelling distance and everything seemed to eb going to plan so we went ahead with the actress.

Creating an idea

Now we know who our user group is, what they like and what they don't it was now time to think of what our exhibition would be. The first thing that we diceded is what topic would they be learning about as it needs to be educational, geography was our choice as we thought it would have interesting options.

We thought of what was involved in geography and thought of different aspects they would like. We thought that they would like engaging and interacting the most. A volcano room was our idea. The children would be asked questions which they will of learnt in school from their teachers pack, if they go the answer correct it would make something happen eventually making the volcano errupt. We then decided that 30 would be too much to have in one room so split it into 3 groups of 10. A volcano, artic, rainforest and desert room. One would be a final room which they entered together.

After giving our five minute presentation, we were told to remember that we only have a small part of the museum and not the whole of it so 4 rooms wouldnt be realistic. We changed our idea to 3 pods. We got rid of the volcano room as when it came down to researching the climates for questions wewere stuck on volvanos as we didn't have a lot of knowledge. The pods would be a fun and exciting way of entering a climate.

The climate pods would have realistic things to what the real place would be like. When they answered a question right, things would happen thart represented the climate.
Here are some examples:

Rainforest room
Wear rainforest hats and umbrella
Warm climate
Rains when they get all the questions right
Real life parrot

Desert room
Wear sunglasses and hat
Warm climate
Sun sets at the end
full of sand
Artic room
Wear hat gloves and scarf
Snow covered floor
Snows at the end

These ideas are what will keepthe children interested and learning in a fun way. We will be delivering the presentation by making cut out mini pods of what they will look like, a preze with all the info on, photoshopped rooms, teachers pack and the questions they would be asked.

User group

We picked a number out of a hat and the number you chose was the position in line you were to picking what user group you would prefer from the list. We were number six and had our eyes set on going for the user group of Primary School children. And that's what we got! I was pretty happy about that as I thought it was a good user group as we could pick pretty much any topic as long as it was educational.

Myself,Amy and Ceri got ourselves on a whiteboard table and thought that we would write down as many words possible to do with our user group and what the exhibition would have to be like so that we could identify exactly who they were and what there needs are.

We come up with hundreds of words here are some of the relevant ones:
The exhibition
Educational
Entertaining
Fun
Engaging
Interactive
Useful
Memorable

The User group
Easily bored
Truthful
Energetic
Interested
Spontaneous
Young
Eager

Narrowing the words down to just a few helped us realise that we had quite a tough user group on our hands and primary school children are from the age of 4-11 so we needed to narrow that down to one class. Year 3 ages 7-8 is what we chose. We thought that it was an age were they are still eager to play engage and interact yet they can learn information and put it into practise. Another huge part to our user group other than the children is the teachers. They will be the ones who have to teach the children any information first, the people we would communicate and organise with and the people who will have the biggest opinion on the day.

Now that we know exactly who our user group is we need to get thinking of a good idea that keeps them entertained, educated and happy.

Museum of Liverpool project

We have been set the brief of designing an exhibition that we could hold in  the Museum of Liverpool to suit a certain user group. Before we were given the user group options I took myself down to the museum to have a nose round as it's pretty new to Liverpool, opening in July 2011. I didn't find the museum overly exciting, I thought it was all kind of plain, bland and straight forward. So from then I knew that I wanted to make an exhibition that would be completely opposite to he rest of the museum what ever my user group would be. The museum is free so a lot of people tend to go, this means that the user group list that we will choose from will be a very wide range of people.

http://www.liverpoolmuseums.org.uk/ this is the link to the museums website. It gives a timetable of 'what's on' in the museum. The range of different activities and tours show the range of people that are currently attracted to this museum. I found that it was a very large and variable group. I'm looking forward to find out our user group and get going on the project.
