Location based narrative assignment

In todays Contempary Media Issues we looked as the start of our Location based narrative assignment. I was pretty confused at first when Google Maps were intorduced but I soon got my head around it.

We have been put into groups and given a brief with our starting Location on. St James Gardens is the point were we have to begin our location based narrative, we then have to move to 4 other places whilst telling a short simple story.

St James Garden used to be a cemetary so it has lots of grave stones, which influenced our idea. We thought we could find someone who  has a memorial there and follow their life story in five simple steps. Arthur Richardson  has a memorial there and an interesting journey so we have chosen him and his previous 5 steps in life to follow.

These are the 5 points we will follow using sound, video footage and images.
  1. His memorial in St James Garden
  2. He worked as a dentist in Liverpool
  3. Moved to Canada
  4. Joined the Army
  5. Came back to Liverpool

We created our google map, which wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be. We tried to get as close to accurate as we could for each location, as it was history and only a general piece of information on his life we had to do more research to compare what we had found to find out the most accurate places and dates. Google maps wasn't something I enjoyed, peobably one of the least enjoyable tasks that I have completed so far. Howeve I didn't let that interfere with my work and tried my hardest. When it come to presentation we were a member short so we had to pull ourselves together on the day and deliver it the best we could.
